Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser Tattoo Removal

Are you experiencing tattoo regret?  If so, you’re in luck!  Depending on the depth of the ink and the variety of colors, it can be very difficult to eliminate all signs of a tattoo, but using the TRI-Beam Q-Switched Laser from Perigee, your expert provider will determine a treatment plan to match your tattoo removal goals.

how does tattoo removal work?

The TRI-Beam Q-Switched Laser works by directing light energy into your skin. Different colored inks respond to different wavelengths of light, so your treatment will be customized for your specific goals and the specific tattoo you wish to have removed. The tattoo ink that is underneath the skin then absorbs the light energy, causing the ink particles to shatter into tiny pieces. Once the ink particles have been shattered, your body’s immune system works to eliminate them from your body.

While tattoos require multiple treatments to be completely eliminated, you can see the progress by the lightening of the tattoo as you continue with treatments. There is a small amount of pain associated with treatments (like any laser treatment), a topical anesthetic may be applied to ensure your comfort during treatment.

what are the side effects?

The most common reactions include redness and swelling, though bleeding may sometimes occur. After treatment, the treated area will likely scab, and it will not be until the scab falls off that it’s clear whether or not the treatment was successful. Keep the wound covered with gauze and regularly redress the area, careful to not interfere with the scab.

how many treatments will I need?

Depending on the color of pigment in your tattoo, the TRI-Beam Q-Switched Laser will deliver 1064 nm wavelength (for Blue/Black Tattoos and Permanent Makeup) or 532 nm (for Red tattoos).

Most tattoos will require more than one treatment, with Blue and Black based tattoos requiring upwards of three treatments. Treatments can be performed in 4 to 6 week intervals to ensure proper healing time.

does tattoo removal hurt?

Most patients describe tattoo removal as feeling prickly sensation, like rubber bands snapping on your skin. Afterwards, it might feel like a sunburn. Each patient has his or her own level of skin sensitivity and pain threshold, and different areas on the body are also more sensitive than others. To help make the experience more comfortable, we offer PRO-NOX and topical anesthetic.

please note

• All laser patients must have a consultation prior to scheduling treatment.
